Abraham Lincoln- The person who ended slavery in USA

Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln was more than just an American hero; he represented the dawn (sunrise) of a new era in a human civilization based on freedom and equality. He was born in a log cabin in Kentucky on February 12 in 1809. His parents Mr. Thomas Lincoln and Mrs. Nancy Lincoln had three children.

His childhood and after

But after his mother’s death, Abraham’s father married a woman who had a major (significant) impact on Abraham’s life by encouraging him to read.  She was especially fond of Abraham and him of her. He afterward referred to her as his “angel mother”. His parents were almost completely illiterate, and he received little formal education. He once said that, as a boy, he had gone to school “by little”—a little now and a little then—and his entire schooling amounted to no more than one year’s attendance. He was incredibly talented. Largely self-taught, he became a lawyer before getting elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1846. It was here that his brilliance influenced what would become the freest(unbound) and most prosperous nation on earth.

Contributions for Development and efforts to end Civil war in the USA

Mr. Lincoln modernized (reconstruct or update) the economy without sacrificing his values. By 1860, he secured the Republican Party presidential nomination and was elected president. Lincoln’s victory encouraged southern slave states to form the Confederate States of America. Abraham Lincoln became leader of the Union during the American Civil War, where he used his power of oratory (public speaking or speech) to deliver the Gettysburg Address and other powerful speeches to win over the support of the American people. His willingness (eagerness) to stand alone on issues he believed in made him one of the most beloved and memorable leaders in modern history. His refusal to compromise on the issue of slavery and leading the north to victory during the Civil War made him the target of Confederate (associate or colleague) and followers.

His death

Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth, a Confederate supporter, on April 14, 1865, and died the next morning on April 15, 1865 – less than one month before the end of the Civil War.
